To be correct, the official name of the trail is "Canalway
Trail" according to the New York State
Canal System map.
So far, I have cycled two sections of the trail and plan to return for
more. The trail is easy to cycle, well maintained and visits many local spots.
STAGE #1: Buffal to Tonawanda
(remeber the
photos are thumbnail size, so click on them to see full size)
The first section is an easy 18 km paved route beside the Niagara River between
Buffalo and Tonawanada.
For somebody who does not want a long or hard route,
this would be an excellent choice.

Trail starts on Squaw Island, but take some time to go out on the breakwater, goes under the Peace Bridge and beyond.

Last 3+ km through Tonawanda riverside park .... fantastic.

stop & enjoy downtown also, Tonawanda has a Tim Hortons
near the trail
Stage #2: here are some photos of my cycling from Lockport to
Spencerport.
It is a canal towpath, so no hills. Small towns, excellent signage and good
surface.
A excellent rib restaurant in Brockport .... forget name, but it is beside
canal.
